In relation to the rape and m3rder of Divine Mbarga Atangana, an 11-year-old girl in Cameroon, police have detained a suspect.

Last week, the minor’s body was found in Nkoabang, which is outside of Yaounde.

The young girl was reported missing on March 18, 2026, after leaving her grandmother’s house after a fight, according to local media.

Residents were shocked and outraged when her lifeless body was discovered the next day, March 19, in an unfinished building in the neighborhood.

‎‎Initial findings suggested that the minor had been subjected to r@pe before her d3ath as traces of sperm were found in her. 

The circumstances surrounding the case prompted calls for a thorough investigation and justice for the victim. 

A week after the discovery, the suspect, a father of three, is reportedly the parent of one of the victim’s classmates. 

He is said to be someone the girl knew and occasionally visited for school-related activities.‎

The arrest marks a significant development in the case, which has deeply shaken the local community. 

Authorities are yet to release an official statement detailing the charges or the progress of the investigation.‎‎
