In relation to the rape and m3rder of Divine Mbarga Atangana, an 11-year-old girl in Cameroon, police have detained a suspect.
Last week, the minor’s body was found in Nkoabang, which is outside of Yaounde.
The young girl was reported missing on March 18, 2026, after leaving her grandmother’s house after a fight, according to local media.
Residents were shocked and outraged when her lifeless body was discovered the next day, March 19, in an unfinished building in the neighborhood.
Initial findings suggested that the minor had been subjected to r@pe before her d3ath as traces of sperm were found in her.
The circumstances surrounding the case prompted calls for a thorough investigation and justice for the victim.
A week after the discovery, the suspect, a father of three, is reportedly the parent of one of the victim’s classmates.
He is said to be someone the girl knew and occasionally visited for school-related activities.
The arrest marks a significant development in the case, which has deeply shaken the local community.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement detailing the charges or the progress of the investigation.
