A major shift in Nigeria’s political landscape has occurred with the announcement by the Kwankwasiyya Movement that its leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Kwankwaso is scheduled to formally register with the ADC on Monday, March 30, 2026, at his home in Gidan Kwankwasiyya, Miller Road, Kano, according to a statement issued by the movement. Following the announcement, the movement has called on its supporters across the country to support the ADC at the state, local, and ward levels.
Explaining the decision, spokesperson Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed said the move was driven by a commitment to democratic values and inclusive governance. “We have always been committed to the betterment of our state and the nation at large,” he said.
“This strategic decision is aimed at strengthening democratic principles and promoting inclusive leadership that genuinely reflects the will and aspirations of the people.” He added that the move reflects the collective interest of supporters, stressing that “democracy must be protected, and the will of the people must always be respected.”
