A 41-year-old marketing employee reportedly got an unexpected chance to get back at his former employer after being dismissed for arriving at work just six minutes late.
The man, whose identity was not disclosed, discovered the morning after his dismissal that his former company had failed to renew its website domain, which had expired overnight.
Seeing the domain was available for public purchase for just $14.99, he decided to buy it.
The company only realised its mistake when its website and email services stopped functioning, disrupting its online operations.
Management subsequently contacted the former employee and demanded that he transfer ownership of the domain back to the company.
However, rather than immediately complying with the request, the man reportedly responded by sending management a photograph of his termination notice, highlighting the section that cited punctuality as the reason for his dismissal.
The incident presents an ironic twist, as the company’s failure to renew its domain left it dependent on the very employee it had dismissed over a six-minute delay.
