A mini-truck driver in Ekiti State, Adeleye Adeniyi, has revealed that he borrowed ₦3.5 million to support the 2027 re-election campaigns of President Bola Tinubu, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele and Ekiti State lawmaker Steve Fatoba.
Adeniyi, a native of Ado-Ekiti popularly known as “Online Loan Man for BAO,” made the disclosure during an interview with journalists. The interview reportedly went viral on Friday.
During the interview, Adeniyi displayed a cardboard cheque bearing the name of Wema Bank to demonstrate how he intended to share the borrowed funds among the three politicians.
According to his proposed allocation, Tinubu would receive ₦2 million, Bamidele ₦1 million, while Fatoba would get ₦500,000.
Explaining his decision to support Tinubu’s bid for a second term, Adeniyi said:
“I am supporting Mr President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his second-term ambition. I have borrowed money. I want to use this money to support him because he’s doing a very great job.”
He also declared his willingness to participate actively in the president’s campaign, saying he would use a song to express his support.
“Like I said again, I am fully ready to go out to campaign for him. And I’m going to use this song to back him up. On your mandate, we shall stand,” he said.
Adeniyi urged fellow Nigerians to demonstrate their support for the president by voting for him in the 2027 election, expressing confidence that more benefits would follow if Tinubu secured another term.
“I will appeal to my fellow Nigerians that we should demonstrate love by giving him, by voting him for his second term in office, because we are still going to see much more, more than what we have received,” he stated.
The driver also praised Senate Leader Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, expressing optimism about his future and commending the projects he had supported.
“Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, this man, I pray that we are still going to higher places. Most times, I look at the kind of projects that you always put on, you always supported. It always encouraged me that, no, indeed, this is a good leader,” he said.
Adeniyi’s decision to take out a ₦3.5 million loan to finance his political support has drawn attention, particularly because the money is borrowed and intended for campaign activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
