A Nigerian man identified as @Fimiye on X (formerly Twitter) has shared a funny encounter he witnessed while boarding a commercial bus, popularly known as a danfo, in Lagos.
According to his account, the bus was heading to Ikeja when the conductor began collecting fares from passengers, leading to an amusing moment involving a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member.
The incident reportedly occurred when a corps member wearing an earpiece remained unaware that the conductor was collecting transport fares from passengers.
The conductor then humorously referred to the young man as “77k,” a reference to the monthly allowance associated with corps members in Nigeria.
The incident amused social media users, with many reacting to the conductor’s remark and sharing their own experiences with public transport operators.
The post attracted comments from users who discussed the conduct of danfo conductors, transport fares and the financial challenges faced by Nigerians.
Dark skin guy remarked, “Forget this conductors get word for mouth. Dem brutal gan”.
Lucy stated, “The way this country dey overcharge una e don turn to sport. 77k for one danfo trip na robbery wey dem call transport”.
Jsquare added, “Abule egba touts wan enter me yesterday I change am for dem. I say I no get money to give dem , dem say make dem check my pocket if I dey lie”.
