Man dumps Ratel, says VeryDarkMan is becoming what he criticises

Monday Bakor, a Nigerian man known only as Digital Chief, has declared his departure from Ratel, the online movement linked to VeryDarkMan (VDM), a social media critic.

Bakor made the decision to quit the movement because he felt it had strayed from its core values of justice and fairness, according to a long statement posted online.

In his opening remarks, Bakor affirmed that he had officially left the group.

Read what he wrote below;

“I have officially withdrawn my membership from Ratel.”

“A movement that claims to fight injustice must not become selfish or selective in its pursuit of justice. It should be a platform where people can express diverse opinions without being attacked, silenced, or deliberately run down simply because their views differ from those of the leadership.”

Bakor also attacked VeryDarkMan, claiming that the activist has been exhibiting more and more leadership qualities that he frequently criticises in politicians.

He maintained that no leader’s viewpoint should be immune from criticism and that leadership should not be viewed as a form of dictatorship.

He wrote:

“From my observations, VeryDarkMan has increasingly displayed tendencies that, in my view, are difficult to distinguish from the very political leadership styles he criticises every day.”

He added:

“Power is a litmus test of character. If someone demonstrates this level of pride and intolerance before attaining political power, one is left wondering what the future might look like if such influence becomes even greater.”

Bakor also voiced concerns about how private information is handled, advising public figures to exercise caution when discussing matters that are exchanged in confidence.

He wrote:

“Words have consequences. Careless public outbursts can damage reputations, relationships and even homes. You cannot encourage people to confide in you if they cannot be confident that their private matters will remain protected.”

Bakor stated that he had no personal animosity toward VeryDarkMan despite his criticism.

He revealed that he had previously backed the activist’s activities and even made a donation to his non-governmental organization because he respected his battle against fraud, counterfeit goods, and the exploitation of Nigerians.

He did, however, assert that it was critical to reconsider the movement’s course.

“I have no personal beef with VDM. In fact, I once supported many of his ideas and even made contributions to his NGO account.”

He concluded by urging Nigerians to reject what he described as selective justice.

“We must not support selective justice simply because we agree with the person delivering it.

“Say NO to selective justice.”
