Man arrested during the naming ceremony of his child in Ogun church for stealing three goats

A 27-year-old man named Emmanuel Awahnse was arrested by Ogun State Community Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) agents on suspicion of stealing three goats in the Ipokia Local Government Area.

The suspect was caught in a church as his child was being christened.

Investigation into early-morning theft On February 6, 2026, at approximately 5:00 a.m., agents on patrol along the Madoga–Ita-Ege route spotted Awahnse for the first time, according to Dr. Soji Ganzallo, Commander of So-Safe Corps.

The suspect was observed riding away on a motorbike with a black suitcase in tow, joined by an accomplice. The motorbike and the bag with the three stolen goats were abandoned by the two during a pursuit.

A surveillance team was sent out to find the suspects after the finding.

On February 19 at 1:30 p.m., Awahnse, also known as Ariwo Oja, a resident of Odoforo in Ipokia, was ultimately taken into custody.

The rescued animals and Awahnse have been turned over to the Nigeria Police Force’s Idiroko Division for additional investigation and potential prosecution, according to Dr. Ganzallo.
