In response to the reaction over the viral “Good morning Tony” scandal, a woman has defended Generation Z, claiming that the event shouldn’t be used to make generalisations about the attitude of an entire generation.
The “Good Morning Tony” incident started when a young woman went viral for calling billionaire businessman Tony Elumelu just “Tony” in a public setting. This was deemed insulting by some, especially to an older and more well-known individual.
In response to the drama, a woman spoke her own viewpoint at a public discussion.
She said that the practice was a UBA policy rather than a Gen Z culture.
She stated that she had been employed at UBA for over three years and that the policy’s introduction made the matter a hot topic of conversation.
The woman chastised individuals who placed the blame on the woman in question, claiming that the organization should be held accountable for enacting a policy that it was purportedly unable to regularly follow.
She said …
“Gen Zs have been insulted a lot. It is not a Gen Z culture; that was a UBA culture. I worked at UBA for over three years, and this was a major issue when the policy was introduced. People blamed the girl, instead of calling out the organisation for introducing a policy they cannot abide by.”
