A lady lost the chance to marry a wealthy man, known as an Odogwu, because she insisted he ask her permission before calling.
The woman described how the man, who expressed interest after seeing her picture at a market, blocked her the moment she set this boundary.
Lady explains how It started with texts
She explained that their initial interaction began through text messages. “We now started to text and he said, ‘how are you? Can I have your picture?’ No, I asked him first. I was like ‘can I have your picture?’ He said me I should send my own picture. So I now say, ‘sorry, I asked you for your pictures first, why you no…’” she recalled.
Despite his later compliance, including sending a picture and answering questions about age and relationship status, the situation escalated the following morning.
“Next day now so he just call me for morning. He didn’t even say anything, just piam. My phone is on do not disturb so when you call once it’s normal, second time he go come go inco called me first time come a second third time. I’m sorry before you call ask permission or so I see blocked,” she said.
Boundaries lead to sudden block
The lady added that she had no prior arguments with the man and communicated politely. “Hello why did you block me? Omo I don’t get strength,” she recalled telling him after being blocked.
She lamented that the incident was particularly frustrating because her mother had previously encouraged her to entertain the man’s advances, noting that he seemed interested and suitable. Yet, the simple request for boundaries reportedly ended the interaction.
