Kim Kardashian has revealed she’s been diagnosed with a condition her late father “battled before his death”.
The 45-year-old reality star opens up about her health in the trailer for the latest season of her family show, The Kardashians, which gives Disney Plus gives viewers an all-access pass into their lives.
It follows sisters Kim, Kourtney, Khloé Kadashian and Kendall, and Kylie Jenner as they tackle everything from building businesses to raising children. A synopsis teases: “From the intense pressures of running billion-dollar businesses to the hilarious joys of playtime and school drop-offs, this series brings viewers into the fold with a rivetingly honest story of love & life in the spotlight.”
Kim confirms that she’s been diagnosed with Esophagitis in the season eight trailer, which was released on Thursday (September 17). According to the NHS, the condition is characterised by the inflammation of the lining of the oesophagus.
The mum-of-four is shown in a hospital bed as she reveals: “I have something called Esophagitis.” A producer on the show then asks: “Didn’t your father, isn’t it what he died of?”
Kim is then heard agreeing as she says: “Yeah.” Her mum Kris then confesses to the camera: “I can’t,” before adding: “It makes me want to cry.”
The family’s late patriarch, Robert, was a famed attorney and businessman. He died in July 2003, just two months after being diagnosed with oesophageal cancer.
The details of Kim’s own diagnosis aren’t completely clear in the trailer, but fans will likely find out more about her health battle in upcoming episodes of The Kardashians. The season is set to premiere on Disney Plus next month.
As well as exploring the Skims founder’s health, the series seems to also touch on her recent romance with Formula One legend Sir Lewis Hamilton. The trailer additionally promises viewers a glimpse into Khloe’s love life, as well as Kourtney’s own business and personal ventures.
It seems there’ll also be a focus on Kris and Caitlyn’s lives separately, as well as a spotlight on mum-of-two Kylie. Fans are already gearing up for the new episodes, with one commenting under the teaser: “oh snap the Kardashian are back baby so excited.”
