According to report by The Nation on Thursday, September 17, 2026, popular Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has rejected reports linking her to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos State Campaign Council, saying she has chosen to stay away from partisan politics.

Abraham made her position known on Thursday, September 17, 2026, after her name appeared on the list of members of the party’s campaign council released ahead of its inauguration.

The actress, in a statement shared on her Instagram page, clarified that she does not belong to any political campaign organisation and asked members of the public to disregard the report suggesting otherwise.

“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently; I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” she stated.

Her clarification followed the publication of the full membership list by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre.

The council is scheduled to be inaugurated on Friday, September 18, at the APC Secretariat on Acme Road, Ikeja, Lagos.

Abraham’s name was listed alongside several prominent figures from Nigeria’s entertainment industry under the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.

The directorate is headed by Toke Benson-Awoyinka as Director. Veteran actor Jide Kosoko was named Co-Director, while actress Eniola Badmus was listed as Deputy Director.

Other entertainment personalities included Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Abass Akande Obesere and Adewale Ayuba, who were named as members of the directorate.

The reported inclusion of Abraham had generated attention because of her previous public statements indicating that she intended to remain outside active politics.

Her latest statement therefore makes clear that she does not identify as a member of the Lagos APC campaign council and does not authorise the use of her name as part of the committee.

The development comes as political parties and their supporters intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections, with campaign structures being established across various states.
