Mobile phone traders in Kano State have reportedly confronted Chinese nationals over allegations that they are selling phones directly to consumers at prices lower than those offered by local retailers.
In a viral video making the rounds on social media, the traders stated that they operate under an association and insisted that the Chinese nationals should not be allowed to sell directly to customers at cheaper rates.
The incident comes weeks after some Nigerian public figures criticised Igbo traders who protested against similar business practices involving Chinese nationals in Lagos.
Those who reportedly weighed in on the Lagos controversy included Lere Olayinka, Dotun and other public figures.
However, none of these personalities has publicly commented on the reported confrontation in Kano as of the time of this report.
