I’ve Never in My Life Slept For Eight Hours; Usually, I Get About Three Hours, Four Hours Sleep – Peter Obi

Former Anambra State Governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has attributed his strength, discipline and relentless work ethic to God’s grace as he marked his 65th birthday.

In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Obi reflected on his life, political journey and demanding schedule after returning from a six-day overseas trip that took him to five cities across three countries.

Speaking on his milestone birthday, Obi said everything he has achieved is by God’s grace, adding that he remains committed to serving humanity. He expressed hope that more leaders of his generation would dedicate themselves to building a better future for younger Nigerians.

Addressing questions about how he maintains his energy despite his busy travel schedule, Obi dismissed suggestions that he relies on energy drinks, insisting that his strength comes entirely from God. He explained that he views his activities as service to humanity, which motivates him to keep going.

To illustrate his routine, Obi said he recently travelled from Lagos to the United States, attending meetings in Houston, Washington, D.C., and New York before proceeding to Berlin and the United Kingdom, all within six days, before returning to Nigeria.

He also revealed that he survives on very little sleep, saying, “Usually, I get about three hours, four hours sleep. Medically, one should be resting for at least eight hours per day. I’ve never in my life slept for eight hours.”

Obi added that despite his demanding schedule, he remains grateful to God for sustaining him and enabling him to continue serving the nation.
