ISWAP terrorists raid military bases in Borno

The strikes targeted military formations in Benisheikh, Pulka, and Mungono, according to a number of sources, including intelligence services and jihadi researchers.

A commanding officer has reportedly been killed in new attacks on Nigerian military units in Borno State by suspected members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

The strikes, which they believe were a part of ISWAP’s “Camp Holocaust” campaign, targeted military formations in Benisheikh, Pulka, and Mungono, according to a number of sources, including intelligence sources and jihadi researchers.

According to reports, the commanding commander of the combined task force in Benisheikh, Kaga Local Government Area, Borno State, was murdered in the attack.

Regarding the attacks and the brigadier general’s alleged death, the Nigerian Army has not, however, released an official comment.

An inquiry submitted to Nigerian Army spokesman Appolonia Anele has not received a response.

ISWAP began Camp Holocaust, a program aimed at military personnel and formations, early last year.

Approximately sixteen military bases were attacked during the campaign last year, according to a research by Good Governance Africa (GGA).

In a similar vein, the Institute of Security Studies (ISS) believes that at least 200 attacks during the lethal campaign resulted in the deaths of about 500 individuals.

The insurgents seem to be using more sophisticated weapons, such as armed drones, as the onslaught intensifies.
