Istanbulspor have dismissed claims tying Victor Osimhen to a potential acquisition of the club, claiming that no official contact has been made.
Speculation had circulated that the striker, who presently plays for Galatasaray, was preparing to invest in the Turkish second-tier club as part of a larger football development project.
Club rejects rumours.
According to Afrik-Foot, Istanbulspor president Ecmel Faik Sarıalioğlu addressed the rumours and clarified the club’s position.
“We’ve seen reports that Osimhen is going to buy Istanbulspor. But as the club president, I can confirm we haven’t received any official confirmation,” he said.
The statement indicates that there are currently no conversations or official proposals concerning the Nigerian forward.
The speculation stems from comments attributed to Osimhen, in which he indicated plans to invest in football development.
The planned strategy apparently includes acquiring a club in Turkey and forming a partner team in Nigeria to develop new players.
The goal is to provide a systematic road for young players, particularly those from Nigeria, to transfer into European football.
While the notion indicates a long-term goal beyond his playing career, no real efforts have been taken regarding Istanbulspor.
For the time being, the club maintains that the rumours are hypothetical, with no official statement from Osimhen or his representatives.
