“I’m in my parents’ house, marriage didn’t…” — woman says after leaving her husband’s house

A Nigerian woman stirred much debate on social media after announcing her return to her parents’ house, claiming that marriage “did not favour” her.

In a now-viral video, the woman publicly criticises her marriage experience while advising others in similar situations to flee and seek sanctuary with their family.

In the video, the obviously tearful woman admits she chose peace over continuing in what she describes as an unpleasant marriage.

I’m in my parents’ house. Marriage didn’t favour me and Kukuma go my parents’ house.

Thunder fire marriage. See, I’m cooking in my parents’ house. If Marriage didn’t favour you, sweetheart, Kukuma go to your parents’ house. You have parents at home.

Kukuma go to them, they will not reject you. Marriage didn’t favour me. See, I’m cooking beans. Thunder fire.”

Her comments, made while cooking in her parents’ home, immediately gained popularity, eliciting conflicting reactions from Nigerians on social media.

While some individuals showed sympathy and understanding, others criticised her broad generalisation about marriage.

Take your time to heal, take corrections and move on. You don’t need this, u don’t need to prove any point to anyone.”

Ankuy, however, disagreed with her stance: “Because it didn’t work for you doesn’t mean it won’t work for other women , enjoy at your father’s house , we no really send you for here.”

Chidera shared a more reflective take: “Okay my dear … I accept everything you said, I am also part of the good men .who think he can save a woman and learnt the best life

Of my life …The man might be heartbroken because the girl left, but if I’m him, he will celebrate because his breakthrough starts.”

Mrleotunes focused on lifestyle differences in marriage: “Can u cook beans In yoir husband house wit firewood No ..but u would make a poor man feel less of himself if he ask u to cook yoir Meal wit firewood.”
