Nigerian billionaire Keji Giwa has generated reactions online following controversial remarks about Nigeria’s future and the mindset needed to survive in the country’s business climate.
Speaking during a recent podcast appearance, Giwa stated that many people fail to understand the strong connection between business and politics in Nigeria, warning that entrepreneurs who ignore this reality risk losing everything they have worked for.
He noted that business owners are often criticized for maintaining close ties with political leaders, including President Bola Tinubu and his administration, but argued that such relationships are important for safeguarding investments and maintaining stability in a difficult environment.
Giwa further sparked debate after sharing his personal view on the nation’s development, stating that he is not emotionally attached to whether Nigeria succeeds or not.
“Anybody doing business in Nigeria that doesn’t think politics is part and parcel of their success in doing business in Nigeria has no business doing business in Nigeria,” he stated.
“My prayer is different from yours. I’m banking on Nigeria not getting better,” he added.
He also stated a policy within his organization, noting that any staff member who says “God will provide” would be sacked instantly.
