Nollywood star Laide Olabanji has reiterated his support for former Anambra State governor and NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.

Olabanji stated on his Instagram page that an incumbent leader’s ability to enhance a country should not be measured by how long they are in office.

To illustrate his thesis, he used the military regimes of previous Head of State Yakubu Gowon and his successor, Murtala Muhammed.

“If someone can destroy a country in three years, another good man can make it better in just one year. Gowon ruled for nine years, Gen. Murtala Muhammed repaired it in just six months.

So if your tribe person can’t give you a better life, allow Peter Obi to give you a better country. The future of your children is very important,” he wrote.

Olabanji explicitly urged Nigerians to support Obi and advised them to look beyond ethnic factors while choosing the nation’s leader.

Obi is still a prominent player in Nigeria’s opposition politics, and his comments coincide with the escalating political discourse leading up to the 2027 elections.

The actor continues to advocate for the causes he believes are crucial to Nigeria’s future by making public remarks on political leadership and governance.
