“If you ever feel stupid… ”— Man recalls how he lost his phones to area boys in Lagos

A man recently published a personal tale about how he lost his phone to neighbourhood boys in Lagos, eliciting responses from social media users who recounted similar situations.

The man described how, in 2019, he had recently purchased a popular Tecno phone. as on a public bus to a vigil in Yaba, a phone snatcher stole the device as he was distracted by a prank call from friends.

He described the experience as heart-stopping, recounting how he jumped from the bus through the window to retrieve the phone.

Despite asking individuals in the vicinity for help, no one answered, forcing him to walk home from a long distance.

So a week after, I bought a new phone, then I was going back around 11, because passing through, but I had to walk a little bit to my house. So all of a sudden, a guy came up to me, and the guy asked me, am I a LASU student? I was like, no, no, I’m not a LASU student. He then asked if someone had sent me to collect information on him”

He felt foolish after the experience, but it taught him a valuable lesson about carefully traversing unknown regions.

The story has resonated with many people on social media, with users sharing their own interactions with local males in Lagos and other locations.
