A Nigerian woman has generated outrage online after claiming that she would rather divorce than share her husband with another woman.
In a sharply written message circulating on X, now known as Twitter, the woman defined herself as “so selfish in that aspect” and swore she couldn’t stand polygamy for a second.
She related a personal tale about the family of a close friend to explain the origins of her position.
According to her, her acquaintance lost his sibling when their father went on vacation with his second wife, leaving the first family without financial assistance.
She said the children were left without money since their mother was unwell at the time.
“Everything happened so fast and the brother was gone,” she wrote, recalling the painful incident.
The woman stated that such experiences had created her strong reluctance to being a first or second wife.
“It’s Either You and Me Forever” In her post, she stated her views unequivocally.
“I will never accept to be a first or second wife. It either you and me forever or we part ways,” she stated.
She went on to say that she has seen countless stories concerning the harm that a second marriage can wreak in families.
According to her, such agreements frequently cause emotional suffering and instability in homes.
“My husband will never marry a second wife,” she declared confidently.
She further cautioned that if her spouse ever desired another woman, he should give divorce papers instead.
“If you feel like eating from another woman’s pot, kindly serve me the divorce papers,” she wrote.
The woman also cited her family history as proof of her conviction. She mentioned that none of her family members have ever had a second wife.
She also stated that no lady in her family had ever become a second wife to any man.“I can’t and will never live under the same roof with another woman,” she insisted.
Ending her message firmly, she concluded: “It’s me and you forever!”
Her remark has subsequently sparked heated controversy online, with many individuals expressing opposing viewpoints on marriage, culture, and personal boundaries.
