The veteran TV host Frank Edoho has revealed details about his early earnings while hosting the Nigerian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

Speaking at a seminar, Edoho disclosed that he earned about ₦160,000 monthly during his early years on the show, despite the public perception that he was highly wealthy due to his on-screen role and polished appearance.

He explained that his job required him to maintain a consistently refined image—wearing suits and projecting confidence—because of the prestige associated with the programme, even though his actual income did not match the assumptions many viewers made.

Edoho’s remarks highlight the difference between public perception and behind-the-scenes reality in television presenting roles.

Narrating his experience, he said:

“My first two years’ salary at the ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ show was ₦160k monthly, but I had to put on a suit and act like I owned all the money.

“But when MTN came on, I just said let me just give a figure to my boss, the owner of the show. If I should mention it, you all will suffocate, and he was like, ‘Okay, we’ll give you 3 months backpay.’”
