Maria Chike Benjamin, a reality TV celebrity and former Big Brother Naija housemate, has spoken out against charges that she is a home wrecker.

Maria addressed the controversy surrounding her connection in a recent podcast interview with Chude Jideonwo, arguing that the story about her has been misconstrued.

Maria, who is married to Kelvin Anene, clarified the situation, stating, “I wasn’t aware that he was married when we started dating.”

She made it clear that she did not feel obligated to explain her private life to the public.

“I don’t owe people my personal life. I am not a saint and I’m nobody’s role model because I’m for me. Whoever loves me can then decide to follow my steps,” she added.

The former housemate firmly denied claims of breaking up a home. “I am going to stand by this, and this is the gospel truth, I didn’t destroy any marriage,” Maria said.

She further explained, “I have never and would never do that. I am also a woman and I know how it feels when a man is having an affair.”

Maria’s open statement comes under public scrutiny, as she navigates life in the spotlight while defending her reputation.
