An emotive account of how a Nigerian man learned that his late friend’s widow was not inflating her children’s school tuition as he had been told has been published.

He described it as one of the commitments he made to his friend, explaining in an account posted online that he had been covering the kids’ tuition since his friend’s death three years prior.

The man claims that he just received a call informing him that the widow had been inflating the school fees while he was still responsible for paying the bills.

“Someone called me to tell me that my late friend’s wife inflated her kids’ school fees as I have been the one paying since three years that my friend departed. It was one of the promises I made,” he wrote.

He made the decision to independently confirm the facts since he was worried about the accusation. He made contact with the kids’ school and asked for information on the actual payments that were being paid.

He was shocked to learn that he had been underpaying the fees by ₦17,000.

Startled by the discovery, he set up a meeting with the widow and questioned her about why she had never told him about the rise.

According to reports, the woman told him that the prices had gone up, but she decided not to let him know since she didn’t want to put any more strain on him given everything he had already done for her family.

The widow was devastated to read the messages and call logs when the man later disclosed that the accusation originated from her older sister.

In the end, he paid the remaining amount and prayed for widows and moms in need. He was also commended by many on the internet for checking the claim before passing judgement or making snap judgements.
