A woman has stirred significant outrage online after telling how a man who had proposed to her unexpectedly published pre-wedding photos with another woman only three months after she accepted his marriage proposal.
The report, which was recently published on social media, described how the relationship ended amicably following months of ambiguity about plans for a formal family introduction.
According to the woman, she originally accepted the proposal but was unsure about getting married.
She revealed that, despite the engagement was accompanied by a ring and a pledge from her suitor, she constantly postponed discussions about involving her family since she was not completely persuaded of the relationship.
The woman recalled a time of reluctance after the proposal, noting that the man regularly enquired about official introductions.
“Someone proposed to me, ring and all. I said yes but I wasn’t really sure and didn’t know how to say no, so I stalled telling my family for a formal introduction to be made,” she said.
She also stated that the continuous postponements lasted months as she battled to make a definitive decision regarding the future of the relationship.
“He kept asking and I kept stalling,” she stated.
The matter took an unexpected turn when she discovered pre-wedding photos on the man’s WhatsApp status, implying that he was planning to marry someone else.
“Three months later, he uploaded pre-wedding photos on his WhatsApp status. I didn’t argue or anything, just sent him a congratulatory message and he replied with a ‘thank you’,” she recalled.
The woman also stated that she later sold the engagement ring and used the funds to pay a vacation with friends before moving on with her life.
The narrative has sparked analogies to prior public disputes over involvement expectations, commitment timescales, and relationship communication.
Similar debates have gained traction online in recent years, as more Nigerians share their stories of broken engagements and postponed wedding preparations.
Since the account’s discovery, social media users have been divided, with some claiming that both partners just moved on after protracted uncertainty, while others emphasised the need of clear communication when making long-term relationship commitments.
