A woman has sparked debate online after admitting why she walked away from an engagement, claiming that she has no desire to marry or create a family.
The statement was made in a social media video in which she freely discussed relationships and personal independence.
Despite conceding that her fiancé was a decent man and that there were no big flaws in the relationship, she claims she realised it shortly before her scheduled wedding.
She explained that, unlike many brides-to-be, she had never felt excited or nervous about being married.
Explaining her decision, the lady stated that her views on marriage have always been different, and she does not hold the institution in high respect.
“I would never get to a stage in my life where I would start to desire marriage or children cause I was never like that. So when I was first engaged and it was close to the period I was supposed to get married, I never had the mind that I want to get to the finish point. You know when you’ll be having wedding jitters like oh let’s marry, let’s marry, it never happened to me. Not because he wasn’t a good person, he was alright. I just realised that I no rate marriage just because I no rate men like that,” she added.
Her words elicited mixed reactions, with some supporting her stance on personal choice and others criticising her ideas on marriage.
Similar disputes have erupted in recent years, as more people publicly question traditional ideas about marriage and family life.
