Witney John, a Nollywood actress, has openly accused a guy she trusted of erasing her name from land documents that they supposedly purchased together, prompting outrage online.
The actress made the announcement in an emotional video posted to her social media page, in which she was seen in tears describing the experience.
According to her, the problem began when it came time to file the property’s formal documents.
She said that, despite contributing monetarily to the purchase, the man only placed his name on the receipt, leaving out hers entirely.
Witney expressed her disgust, saying the scenario had left her extremely upset and exhausted.
“The man I trusted and bought land with, when it was time to get the receipt of the land we got together, he put only his name and removed my name. I can’t take this anymore. This is too much for me. I trusted him with everything, and this is what I get in return,” she added tearfully.
The development has elicited conflicting reactions from fans and social media users, with many cautioning against collaborative investments, particularly those involving property and informal agreements.
This instance is similar to several reported in recent years, in which conflicts over jointly owned land have resulted in legal fights and public backlash, particularly in Nigeria’s real estate sector.
As of the time of submitting this report, the accused individual has not responded to the claims.
