“I Plan to Marry Five Wives”— Nigerian Man Warns Prospective Bride

A Nigerian man identified as Akalaka Nwa Nkanu has stirred reactions online after publicly declaring his intention to marry five wives, warning any woman interested in him to be prepared for his polygamous plans.

Akalaka, who comes from a polygamous family, disclosed his intentions in a Facebook post on Sunday, October 11, explaining that his father had four wives and that his late mother fully supported his marital arrangement.

According to him, he prefers polygamy to infidelity and would rather marry additional partners openly than engage in extramarital affairs.

In his post, Akalaka said he wanted to make his intentions clear from the beginning so that women who do not support polygamy could decide whether to pursue a relationship with him.

“If you’re crushing on me and you think we can build a beautiful home together, please let me warn you in advance! Have it at the back of your mind that I plan to marry 5 wives, so don’t come and start feeling somehow when I begin meeting other women,” he wrote.

He further explained that he would prefer bringing another woman into his household as a wife rather than keeping a relationship outside his marriage.

“Instead of ch3ating outside, I’d rather bring the babe home and make her my wife.

“At least everybody will know their position! After all, my papa married 4 wives and my late mum even escorted him to two of the marriages! I no dey hide my intentions oh, so If you can’t handle the plan, please don’t board the ship.”

His declaration has drawn attention to differing views on polygamy, fidelity and relationship expectations, particularly the importance of discussing major marital decisions before committing to a long-term relationship.

By making his plans public, Akalaka said he wanted prospective partners to understand his intentions from the outset rather than feel surprised by his choices later.
