A Nigerian woman living in the United Kingdom has appealed for help after alleging that her husband withdrew her sponsorship, leaving her with 60 days to secure another sponsor or risk being deported.
In a video circulating on social media, the distressed woman said she received a notification from the UK Home Office informing her of the deadline.
She explained that the situation has left her uncertain about her future and appealed to Nigerians and other well-meaning individuals to help her secure a new Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).
In the viral clip, the woman said her husband had previously threatened to withdraw his sponsorship before eventually carrying out the alleged action.
“The person I called my husband had been threatening me that he would remove me from his CoS, and he has finally done it,” she said.
She added that the Home Office notification gave her 60 days to secure another sponsor or leave the UK.
Expressing worry about her situation, the woman said she never expected things to turn out this way.
“At this point, I feel like my life is gradually falling apart because I never expected something like this to happen to me,” she said.
She appealed to anyone who could link her with a potential sponsor, saying she was willing to relocate if needed.
“I only have 60 days. Otherwise, I will have to return to Nigeria, and I don’t want to go back to Nigeria. Please help me,” she added.
However, the person who shared the video online gave a different version of events leading to the alleged withdrawal of sponsorship.
According to the individual, the woman arrived in the UK about two years ago and was allegedly advised by friends that divorcing her husband could make her eligible for government support while allowing her to remain in the country.
The individual claimed that the woman then told her husband she no longer wanted to continue the marriage and asked him to prepare for a divorce.
According to the post, the husband agreed to the separation and subsequently withdrew his sponsorship.
The person who shared the video further alleged that the woman is now seeking assistance to secure alternative immigration sponsorship before the deadline expires.
These claims regarding the couple’s marital issues and the advice allegedly given to the woman have not been independently verified.
