According to music manager Ubi Franklin, he has technology that can assist avert flooding by unlocking blocked gutters throughout Lagos State.
Franklin made the assertion while describing what happened to him during a significant flood in Lagos that he said happened in 2018.
Franklin said that the flooding was so bad that cars were immersed in floodwater and that locals saw crocodiles in several places.
Even though he thought the building would not be vulnerable, he remembered that his office was also impacted by the flooding.
When Franklin arrived, he discovered that floodwater had risen above the bonnet of his Mercedes-Benz C300, which was parked at the office.
He clarified that a person inside the car could not see the road ahead due to the high water level.
The music manager claimed that after receiving news of the flooding on social media, he returned to the office from his Prado.
But when he got there, he said the floodwater had reached the engine level of his Prado, which was also impacted.
Investigations carried out after workers returned to the region, according to Franklin, showed that some building operations had obstructed many drainage systems.
He maintained that clogged gutters and gullies can play a major role in floods, especially when a lot of rain stops water from moving freely.
Franklin claimed to have a device that could help unclog gutters and allow water to flow freely throughout Lagos.
He said he was open to talking about the technology with Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources.
“I have something that if Tokunbo is ready, the commissioner, I can sit with him and discuss it. And all the gullies in Lagos will be open. I have it, it’s a technology.”
Franklin added that the method might enhance water flow and create drainage pathways around Lagos.
“There’s a technology I have, right? That will open up all the gullies in Lagos and get free flow of water.”
His remarks coincide with persistent worries about floods, clogged drainage systems, and the requirement for efficient flood control measures throughout Lagos.
