Nigerian fashion designer Prudent Gabriel has revealed that she once considered postponing her wedding because she felt uncomfortable getting married before her immediate elder sister.

The designer disclosed that the thought troubled her despite the fact that she and her husband were ready to begin their marital journey.

Why She Considered Postponing Her Wedding

Speaking during a recent church service, Prudent explained that she approached her elder sister before settling on a wedding date to find out whether she was comfortable with her decision to marry first.

According to her, she was willing to postpone the ceremony until the following year because neither she nor her husband was in a hurry to get married.

Recounting the conversation, she said she asked her sister whether she was comfortable with her getting married before her.

Prudent added that she made it clear that she would not mind waiting another year if her sister felt uncomfortable with the arrangement.

Her Sister’s Response Surprised Her

Rather than expressing displeasure, Prudent said her sister encouraged her to proceed with the wedding, assuring her that the marriage would be a blessing to her.

“She said, ‘Prudence, your marriage is going to be a blessing to me,’” the designer recalled.

She explained that her sister’s relationship was progressing at a different pace because her partner was not yet ready for marriage.

This helped her understand that getting married first did not mean her sister had been left behind, as everyone had their own timeline for achieving important milestones.

Despite receiving her sister’s blessing, Prudent admitted that she still struggled with mixed emotions about getting married before her.

She recalled an emotional moment on her wedding day when she hugged her sister and expressed hope that she would also get married the following year.
