A married man generated outrage online after expressing his displeasure with his wife’s refusal to pass up her profitable business to him.

The anecdote was shared on X (previously Twitter) by @KeruboSk and has now gone viral.

The man, who is said to be in his mid-30s, revealed that prior to their marriage, he admired his wife’s drive and business spirit, which was one of the reasons he was drawn to her.

However, once they married, he found it difficult to deal with the fact that she makes substantially more than he does, which harmed his self-esteem and confidence in the relationship.

He said that he proposed she give him ownership of the firm so he could “lead it as the husband” while she continued to support him.

However, rather than turning over management, the wife promptly shut down the business, stating that she could not give up what she had worked so hard to develop.

The man expressed that her decision made him feel degraded and unappreciated. He said that he has begun to worry whether his wife actually values him or their marriage.

In his words read what he wrote below: 

“I’m a married man in my mid-30s, and if I’m being honest, my ego is bruised.
Before we got married, my wife already had a thriving business. I admired her drive — that’s what drew me to her.
But marriage has changed how it feels. She earns far more than I do, and it’s messing with my head.
I suggested she put the business in my name so I could lead it as the husband while she supports. She shut it down immediately, saying she can’t hand over what she’s spent years building.
Now I feel disrespected, and I’m starting to question whether she truly values me or this marriage.”
