“I can’t bring myself down for any man just so he’ll like me” —Lady says she can’t change her personality for a man

A 24-year-old woman has spoken openly about her resolve to remain unmarried and resist society expectations to change herself in order to attract men.

In a statement posted online, she stated that she has never been in a relationship and refuses to change her appearance or personality for any man.

Like, changing myself for a man? Do you think I wake up every day like, ‘Might as well get dressed and see if a man will like me today’? Do I look dumb?” she said.

She questioned the instruction provided to unmarried women to appear more “feminine” or modest, describing it as unrealistic and detrimental.

Do you want me to sit here, be demure, and just bring myself down just so a man will like me? I’d rather be alone for the rest of my life than perform,” she added.

She explained that these expectations can lead to self-hatred and drive women to sacrifice their uniqueness for approval.

The woman explained that men are mainly absent from her life, emphasising her preference for self-actualization over conformity to external standards.

I’ve been alone for so long. Men are completely de-centered from my life,” she said.

Her speech has sparked online discussions on the societal pressures women endure to attract men, the value of self-respect, and redefining personal pleasure outside of sexual relationships.
