“I can love too hard, cut people off easily” – Funke Akindele opens up on personality, mental health

Funke Akindele, a Nollywood actress, has spoken out about her nature, saying that she can be strong in her emotions and deeds, sometimes loving too much and cutting people off swiftly.

During an appearance on The Morayo Show, the actress claimed that she is learning to create a balance while focusing on her mental health.

“I know I am too extreme; I can love too hard and also easily cut off people. I must say I’m not proud of that and I’m proud of it. There must be a balance,” she said.

Funke acknowledged her close friend and industry partner, Uzee Usman, with giving her a new perspective on relationships and leadership.

She remembered a time when he told her to be more sympathetic and less reactive when dealing with others, emphasising that leadership needed patience and tolerance.

According to her, this counsel helped her think thoroughly about how she conducts relationships, particularly during times of conflict.

Toward the end of the talk, she discussed her upbringing and how her late mother influenced her mindset.

“I know I am an extremist. I love so hard, I’m real, I’m not perfect, I can be tough. When my mum was alive, she would always tell me to calm down… It’s good but calm down.

Human relationships are very important to me, and I’m learning every day, but no matter what happens, my mental health is very important,” she concluded.

This comes only days after a viral video surfaced showing her snubbing her colleague Toyin Abraham at the premiere of actress Iyabo Ojo’s film, causing controversy online.
