A Nigerian woman has gone viral after revealing the painful experience she allegedly had after giving her former boyfriend ₦5 million to support his political ambition.

In a post shared on X, the woman identified as @4lasade disclosed that she had originally saved the money with the intention of using it to start a business.

She Used Her Savings to Support Her Ex

According to her, her then-boyfriend approached her for financial assistance to contest for a political position. She agreed to provide the money, reportedly believing in his ambition and their relationship.

However, she claimed that after he emerged victorious, he ended their relationship.

Despite not receiving financial support from her former boyfriend, the woman said she eventually proceeded with her plan to open a shop.

She added that a friend later contacted her ex on her behalf to request assistance for the business, after which he reportedly transferred ₦100,000.

Lady Shares Lesson From Experience

Reflecting on what happened, the woman said the experience taught her an important lesson about protecting her personal savings, even when dealing with people close to her.

She said:

“No matter how close someone is to me, I will never touch my savings for them again. If they need help, I’ll look for other ways to help without touching what I’ve saved. After all, nobody even knows I have savings”.
