A lady expressed frustration after waking up to see that significant flooding had swamped the region surrounding her home following a downpour.

According to the woman, floodwaters came to knee level in several areas of the facility, causing inhabitants to wade through them.

She stated that her own flat survived flooding mainly because her compound is somewhat higher than adjacent properties.

She also expressed concern about the neighborhood’s state, querying how residents could pay millions of naira to live in a location that was frequently flooded.

Sharing what she witnessed, the lady said, “Guys I woke up to see my compound like this. The water is so deep that it is reaching that lady on her knee.”

She added, “How can somebody pay N10m to be staying at a flooded place. If not that my compound is a little higher all these water would have come into my house. All the people on the street water entered their houses.”

Her message has now elicited responses on social media, with many people sympathising with flooding victims and voicing concern over reoccurring drainage and infrastructural issues in some residential areas.

Others recounted similar stories from their areas, urging for better drainage systems and urban planning to mitigate the effects of severe rains on homes and surrounding communities.
