A man has shared the story of his childhood friend, who allegedly lost a ₦150 million inheritance years after carefully managing the fortune left to him by his late father.
According to the narrator, his friend was 22 years old when he inherited the money. After depositing the funds in a bank, he was reportedly advised by a bank employee to be prudent and avoid wasting the wealth.
The man said that despite pressure from relatives and friends who felt entitled to a share of the inheritance, his friend remained disciplined.
Rather than spending lavishly, he purchased a fairly used car, obtained a driver’s licence, and worked as a delivery truck driver before later becoming a bus driver while allowing his savings to grow.
Recounting the incident, the man said:
“My childhood friend inherited ₦150m when his father d!ed. He was 22 years old at the time. When he put the money in the bank, the bank lady told him to be wise and not waste it.”
Continuing his account, he added:
“His uncle advised him to marry a woman he said was better than the lady he was dating. He listened to his uncle and got married to the lady his uncle recommended. A few months after the wedding, his wife took all his money and ran away to Europe. After serious investigation, his uncle was arrested for helping her run away with the money. No one knows what happened to the woman after she left. This was a plan between his wife and his uncle.”
The story has since generated widespread reactions on social media, with many users expressing sympathy for the man while urging people to exercise caution when making major financial and marital decisions.
Others also stressed the importance of seeking independent advice rather than relying solely on family members when handling life-changing matters.
