“He told my father to sleep on the couch” — Wife walks out of barely one year marriage

A woman has reportedly ended her marriage less than a year after tying the knot, following a domestic dispute that escalated over sleeping arrangements for visiting relatives.

According to accounts circulating on , the issue began when the woman’s father came from the village for a medical appointment and was made to sleep on the couple’s couch due to a lack of an extra mattress.

Tensions reportedly rose two days later when the husband bought a new mattress for a visiting friend’s wife who was in town for a short course. The situation sparked disagreement after the woman insisted her father should be given the new mattress instead of remaining on the couch.

What started as a disagreement over accommodation arrangements quickly escalated into a major conflict between the couple, eventually leading to the reported collapse of their marriage.

According to the woman, she said: “My father came from the village sick and needed comfort, but my husband said there was no mattress for him. Two days later, he bought one for another woman visiting for a course. I told him my father should use it, but he told me to use my money to buy another one, knowing I was not working at the time.”

The husband defended his action, saying: “I did not disrespect her father. I managed the situation based on urgency. My friend’s wife was coming for a course and needed rest, so I bought a mattress. I told my wife to contribute if she wanted something for her dad, but she was not earning then, and we had to prioritise what we could afford.”
