A guy described how the sender’s bank cancelled the transaction after the recipient of an erroneously deposited ₦50,000 wanted ₦20,000 before agreeing to repay the money.
The individual claims that after entering the wrong digit during the transfer, he unintentionally sent the funds to the incorrect Opay account.
He called the recipient right away to clarify the error, but the man first denied receiving the money before acknowledging that it had been deposited into his account.
Before receiving a return, the recipient sought ₦20,000.
The sender claimed that the recipient astonished him by insisting on keeping ₦20,000 as his “share” before returning the remaining amount.
He reported the incorrect transfer to his bank, UBA, and gave the transaction reference for an investigation while he was still attempting to get the money back.
The man said, “I was trying to send 50k to someone’s Opay, I got a digit wrongly and mistakenly sent to another person”
Since then, the account has sparked social media reactions, with many users applauding the sender for returning the recipient’s money in spite of his prior behaviour.
According to others, the incident emphasises how crucial it is to confirm account information before performing bank transfers and to quickly notify financial institutions of any incorrect activities.
