“He didn’t go inside” – Rufai Oseni speaks on Tinubu’s visit to Jos following Palm Sunday attack

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has come under fire from journalist and broadcaster Rufai Oseni for his recent trip to Jos in the wake of the alleged attack on the Angwan Rukuba community on Palm Sunday.

This comes after a widely shared video of the president comforting grieving families and expressing worry about departing early because of the state’s power supply problems went viral.

Speaking on Arise TV, Rufai questioned the degree of consideration shown to the victims, pointing out that the president allegedly halted at the airport rather than going to the impacted areas.

“President Tinubu went to Jos over the recent attack but stopped at the airport. What level of insensitivity is this to the people of this country? Imagine telling victims that he would soon leave the airport because of light.

Why didn’t he go to the affected areas? I saw him telling a woman who lost her son that he understands her pain—no, Mr. President, you don’t understand her pain. Nobody does, even me,” he said.

He also questioned why the president did not go to the real locations of the occurrence, emphasising the importance of such actions to bereaved families and impacted communities.

Rufai also brought up the poignant scene in which the president told a distraught woman who had lost her only son that no one could really comprehend the extent of her suffering.
