A tragic incident in the city of Muscatine left six members of a family dead before the suspected gunman took his own life on Monday, June 1.

According to a preliminary investigation by the Muscatine Police Department, the sh00tings appear to have stemmed from a d0mestic-related dispute, although authorities have not disclosed specific details about what may have led to the vi0lence.

Police officers responding to reports of gunfire shortly after noon discovered four victims who had been fatally sh0t inside a residence.

The suspected gunman was later identified as 52-year-old Ryan Willis McFarland of Muscatine. Authorities said he had left the scene before officers arrived but was quickly located along the city’s riverfront trail near a pedestrian bridge.

According to police, officers were speaking with McFarland when he took his own life.

As investigations continued, authorities received information suggesting there were additional victims. Police subsequently discovered the bodies of two other men believed to have been sh0t by McFarland, one at a nearby residence and another at a business location.

Police Chief Anthony Kies stated that all six victims were believed to be family members of the suspect. Their identities have not yet been publicly released.

Local media reports indicated that at least two of the victims were children.

Authorities have continued their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the d3adly incident.
