“Free this widow, she has every right to decide where her husband should be buried” – Media personality Nancy Umeh calls out Toluwasing’s family

Media personality Nancy Umeh has called out the family of the late Toluwasing over their public fallout with his widow regarding his burial arrangements.

In a video shared online, Nancy accused the family of weaponising social media to coerce the grieving woman into giving in to their demands.

“We are watching in real time a widow get bullied by her late husband’s family on the internet. The internet is being used as a weapon,” she said.

According to Nancy, marriage entitles a wife to have a say in her husband’s burial, and the family should not try to force their wishes on her through online pressure.

“She has every right to determine where he will be buried. And using the blogs, using Twitter, using people to try and get her to succumb to your wishes is unfair,” she stated.

Nancy also raised concern over the widow’s emotional state, recalling how her own father could barely speak for two weeks after losing her mother.

She maintained that the dispute should have been settled privately instead of through repeated public outbursts.

“Yes, he was your son, but I have one request. Free this woman. Free this widow. You are causing a lot of harm to this woman by coming online every single day to make demands,” she said.

The media personality further condemned relatives who allegedly threatened the widow online, stressing that women should not be burdened with fixing strained relationships between their husbands and in-laws.

“It is not our job as women to repair broken relationships between husbands and their families. Leave this woman alone, please,” she added.
