A former internet fraudster who reportedly secured a job as a supermarket cleaner has allegedly disappeared after receiving ₦1 million from a customer who rewarded him for exposing a costly billing error.

According to an account shared online, the incident began when a customer purchased goods worth ₦2 million at the supermarket.

Cleaner helps customer avoid ₦500,000 overcharge

While the cashier was calculating the bill, the cleaner reportedly noticed that some items had been charged twice.

He immediately alerted the cashier, helping the customer avoid an alleged overcharge of ₦500,000.

Impressed by the cleaner’s honesty and attention to detail, the customer reportedly requested his bank details and transferred ₦1 million to him as a reward.

Supermarket owner reportedly requests refund

Following the transaction, the supermarket owner allegedly asked the cleaner to return ₦800,000 to the business’s account while allowing him to keep the remaining ₦200,000.

According to the account, the cleaner agreed to make the transfer the following day, explaining that he would use another phone to complete the transaction.

However, he reportedly failed to return to work after that day, and his whereabouts have since remained unknown.
