Manchester United’s erratic form continued at Elland Road, but Matheus Cunha saved Ruben Amorim from additional criticism by securing a point against Leeds.
United were second best for lengthy periods of time and appeared to be heading for another defeat till Cunha intervened.
The hosts had an early lead, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin headed against the post before Brenden Aaronson broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute with a superb low finish.
At the time, Amorim was under intense pressure following United’s midweek failure to beat bottom club Wolves.
Leeds continued to threaten, with Noah Okafor forcing an incredible stop from Senne Lammens and Benjamin Sesko wasting a golden opportunity from close range.
Just three minutes later, United equalised when Cunha sprinted onto Joshua Zirkzee’s pass and slotted the ball under Lucas Perri.
The goal, Cunha’s fourth since his £62.5 million arrival, came at a key time for Amorim, who had several attacking options unavailable due to injury and international service.
Cunha later struck the post after having an earlier goal disallowed for offside.
The stalemate extends Leeds’ undefeated streak to seven games and moves them eight points clear of relegation, while United once again missed an opportunity to climb into the top four.
