A Nigerian lady has sparked an online debate by advising women to avoid marrying men who register their properties and assets in their mother’s name.
In a viral video, she urged women to conduct thorough research before marrying, especially if a man appears wealthy but has no legal ties to his name.
She believes that flashy cars, beautiful houses, and a flamboyant lifestyle can be deceptive if the legal ownership does not match the appearance.
In her words, she said:
“Never marry a man that has assets under his mother’s name. E get why. Before you marry that guy, make sure you do your findings.
Make sure all his assets are under his name. Some of you will see a flashy car and nice house and think when the marriage collapses you’ll get half. My sister, you will suffer.”
She went on to say that a man who intentionally registers assets in his mother’s name may already be planning a divorce and attempting to avoid future court proceedings.
The lady also warned women against rushing into traditional marriages without fully understanding the legal implications, claiming that some women are swayed by luxury.
Her remarks have generated mixed reactions online.
One user said, “She may sound blunt, but she’s speaking facts.” Another disagreed, adding, “Not every man is planning divorce. This advice is too extreme.”
The video has since reignited conversations around marriage, property ownership, divorce settlements in relationships.
