“Dollar was ₦1600 under…” – Man defends Tinubu, backs him for second term ahead of 2027 elections

A Nigerian man has sparked controversy on the internet after openly endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and urging Nigerians to exercise patience in the face of the nation’s economic difficulties.

He made the case that Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC) is just what Nigeria needs right now in a widely shared social media post.

By God’s grace, he said, the APC will win another term, and if people are patient, a better economy is achievable.

Read what he said below;

“We have been patient. This is what has been damaged by several military governments. And now we are trying to do it right. So as far as I’m concerned, Nigerians are patient people. Let us be patient. We will get there.”

He highlighted some of the administration’s initiatives, saying that former President Muhammadu Buhari never carried out the restoration of local governments’ autonomy.

“Our president is giving back autonomy to local governments. Now they have their resources and can handle their assignments instead of constantly going to secretariats to beg,” he added.

Noting that “during the time of Buhari, the dollar was ₦1,600,” he also cited the performance of the naira as another indication of advancement.

It is now ₦1,400. You can see how hard that man has worked. Online reactions to the message were swift. Life is still difficult for the majority of us, regardless of if the naira is 1400 or 1600, according to one user.

Another said, “While patience is undoubtedly vital, the government must also make life easier for the average citizen. The article has rekindled debates about the economy and the APC’s performance as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 elections.
