“Doctors said my 17-year-old daughter was born without a womb” – Mother cries out

A grieving woman has cried out on social media after doctors allegedly informed her that her 17-year-old daughter was born without a womb.

Mary Udoka Ajoku reposted the article on Facebook, expressing sadness at the young girl’s plight and asking the public for guidance and encouragement.

According to the mother, she grew concerned when her daughter did not begin menstruation at the age of 17, despite already being in the 100 level at university.

She also stated that she initially assumed there was no reason for concern because different females develop at various stages.

The mother said that she later took her daughter to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) after the teenager became increasingly concerned about not menstruation like her classmates.

Following many medical tests, physicians reportedly diagnosed the adolescent with Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome (MRKH), a rare disorder in which a girl is born without a uterus.

Sharing her pain online, read what the mother wrote below:

“My 17-year-old daughter has never seen her period. I was not too worried at 16. I told her our bodies are different, so there was no need to worry, but she started getting anxious since all her friends already menstruate.”

“I took her to LASUTH, and after several tests, the doctor said she has MRKH, that she was born without a womb.”

The upset mother confessed that she has not yet shown her daughter the test results because she is concerned about the emotional impact it will have on her.

I didn’t show her the results that day, but I’ve been terrified since she keeps asking for the full results, and I keep lying that the doctor is still reviewing it,” she said.

She went on to say that her daughter frequently discusses marriage and having children in the future, making the situation even more distressing.

“How do I tell a 17-year-old that she will never menstruate or carry a pregnancy? She talks about future husbands and children. My heart breaks every time,” she added.

Many social media users have expressed sympathy for the adolescent and urged the mother to get appropriate medical care and mental support before breaking the news in response to the poignant letter.
