One member of the now-defunct musical group Square, Peter Okoye, has addressed critics who have questioned why his children are unable to speak their native Nigerian language.

The musician used his social media accounts to refute the criticism, arguing that people ought to pay more attention to Nigeria’s more urgent problems rather than his family’s individual decisions.

Peter claimed in a number of posts that his children’s proficiency in Nigerian has no bearing on the lives of other people. Additionally, he charged that detractors were utilising the problem as a way to express their annoyance.

He asked why the subject had become a topic of public discussion in a different post.

“With everything going on in Nigeria, your biggest concern is whether my children speak Nigerian languages? 🤦🏽‍♂️😂History

Peter further maintained that every parent has the right to decide how to raise their children.

“When it’s your turn, teach your own kids all the languages in Nigeria if that’s your choice.

As for me and my family, we’re good. Go and find another place to pour your frustration.

Again, what exactly do you stand to gain if my children speak Nigerian languages? How does that improve your life?
