The Ibagwa Ogbozalla Opi Autonomous Community’s traditional ruler, His Royal Majesty Igwe Eze William Ezugwu, has been suspended by the Enugu State Government in the Nsukka Local Government Area.

Igwe Ezugwu was charged by the state government with breaking the state’s Traditional Rulers Law.

The Enugu State Government accused him of failing to form his cabinet, failing to create a Town Union governing body, and continuing to act in a way that was deemed in violation of the state’s laws governing traditional rulers in a letter of suspension dated September 24.

Igwe William Ezugwu received NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi at his palace in Opi, Nsukka LGA, just three weeks prior to the suspension. It is said that Ezugwu blessed Obi’s presidential aspirations.
