“Be like say na me go scatter this family last last God abeg” — Lady recounts clash with husband’s cousin

A woman has shared how a seemingly minor disagreement with her husband’s younger cousin escalated into a family dispute, leaving her waking up to 30 missed calls from different members of her in-laws.

The woman, who has reportedly been married for more than 10 years, said the incident occurred during a family gathering she attended last weekend.

According to her account, her husband’s cousin, whom she described as being known for her rude behaviour, called her by her first name while asking her to pass seasoning.

She said she did not react to the incident immediately but later addressed the younger woman by her first name while asking her to check whether the food was ready.

The cousin-in-law reportedly became offended and questioned why the woman had called her by her name.

The woman said she reminded her that the younger relative had also addressed her by her first name earlier.

She stated:

“I have been married for over 10 years. You could have at least called me by my son’s name. You called my name, I did the same and you’re pained.”

According to her, the disagreement became heated, with the younger woman allegedly accusing her of being disrespectful despite being eight years younger than her.

The matter reportedly escalated and eventually reached the girl’s father, who is said to be the family head.

The woman said the man contacted her after she had returned to Lagos. Although she offered to discuss the issue over the phone, he reportedly insisted that the matter required a physical discussion and was not something to be handled over the phone.

She said she jokingly suggested holding a Zoom meeting instead and even sent ₦5,000 worth of airtime before going to sleep.

However, she reportedly woke up to 30 missed calls from different members of her in-laws.

She concluded her account with:

“Be like say na me go scatter this family last last God abeg.”

The unusual family dispute has since generated reactions online, with social media users sharing different opinions about whether the incident warranted such a major family intervention.
