Businessman Wale Jana has defended Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James Omiyinka amid widespread criticism surrounding his marriage to and recent child announcement with celebrity fashion designer Abiodun Folashade Tokunbo.

The news triggered significant backlash on social media, with many Nigerians expressing disbelief that the well-known fashion entrepreneur would marry and have a child with the actor, who was convicted of child $3xual a$$ault in July 2022 and completed his prison sentence in late 2025.

Responding to the criticism, Jana maintained that Baba Ijesha’s cr!minal history and status as a registered $3x offender should not prevent him from receiving divine mercy or rebuilding his life.

In a public statement backing the actor, Jana stressed that a previous conviction should not stand in the way of a person’s opportunity for a fresh start, redemption, and a new chapter in life.
